£20m player responds after being asked if Tottenham wanted to sign him

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of players over the years.

Spurs have continuously been linked with Conor Gallagher, while Jonathan David has reportedly been a long-term Tottenham target.

Ilya Zabarnyi is another player Spurs were said to be keen on before his £20m move to Bournemouth, while Spurs were linked again this summer.

Zabarnyi has now been directly asked about those links to Tottenham, and he remained coy about those rumours.

Ilya Zabarnyi responds to Tottenham question

Zabarnyi responded when asked about rumours around Tottenham.

“There are a lot of transfer rumours around you. The greatest interest was attributed to Tottenham. Was there any specifics from the London club?” Zabarnyi was asked.

“There have always been rumours, but I haven’t talked to my agents about it and I’m focused on playing at Bournemouth. And then we’ll see, I don’t know anything yet,” Zabarnyi said.

Ilya Zabarnyi could get a big move

Ilya Zabarnyi remained quiet about his links to Tottenham, but it may not be long before he does get a big move.

The Ukrainian has been solid for Bournemouth for a long time now, and he’s exactly the type of player these big teams like to sign.

He’s young, he’s got great physical attributes, and he’s a left footed centre-back.

Zabarnyi will be in high demand, and Tottenham could be there when the time comes.

Indeed, Alasdair Gold has previously stated that he’s shocked Spurs didn’t sign Zabarnyi.

“Ilya Zabarnyi as well, Spurs really liked him. I don’t understand why that wasn’t someone they didn’t chase that little bit more. Maybe it was because they couldn’t get players out the door, and he ended up going to Bournemouth,” Gold said.

Zabarnyi is certainly a player to keep in mind if Tottenham ever do decide to dip into the centre-back market again in the future.

However, with the likes of Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington coming through, Tottenham may not be in the market for a new centre-half anytime soon.
