£18m player says he found it so ‘easy’ to leave Liverpool

Liverpool had a big summer transfer window.

Indeed, the Reds spent massive money on a number of incomings as they forked out over £400m on new players.

Alexander Isak joined Liverpool on deadline day in a British-record deal, while Florian Wirtz broke that record earlier in the window.

Meanwhile, there were also some notable outgoings at Liverpool.

Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez both left for sizeable fees, while Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah both left the club too.

On top of that Caoimhin Kelleher joined Brentford for £18m.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Kelleher has been discussing his move away from Liverpool, and he says that he found this an easy decision to make.

Caoimhin Kelleher found it easy to leave Liverpool

Kelleher spoke about his decision to leave Liverpool.

The Irishman says it was the right time for him to leave Liverpool as he needed to be playing more regularly, claiming that, with all that context, this was an easy decision to make.

“I just think the time was right for me to go and be a number one,” Kelleher said.

“To play Premier League football every week was the right thing to do, and I was at an age where I needed to go and play.

“That’s why the decision was an easy one for me.”

Caoimhin Kelleher made his stance very clear

Of all of the Liverpool departures this summer, Kelleher’s move away from Anfield was perhaps the most obvious.

Indeed, Kelleher telegraphed this almost a year in advance, claiming that he’s not happy with his situation at Liverpool.

“Obviously the situation at the moment is probably not ideal for myself because I want to play week in, week out,” Kelleher said.

“I feel like I’m good enough to play week in, week out. But yeah, there were obviously bids in the summer that got rejected. Things like that are not in my hands as you say.”

“I’ve said I don’t want this position of number two. I want to be a position of number one. I want to go and play and yeah, wherever that is the most important thing is to be number one and get games, so whether that’s at Liverpool or elsewhere doesn’t matter. The main thing is that I do need to be playing games.”

Kelleher was seemingly ready to leave Liverpool a long time ago, and he got his wish this summer.
