10-goal Spurs-linked 'phenomenon' could become Conte's new Lukaku at Tottenham - TBR View
Since Antonio Conte was announced as the new Tottenham manager, plenty of players have been linked with a move to the club, but none more than Dusan Vlahovic.
The Fiorentina hitman is one of the most sought-out young strikers in world football. He has been absolutely incredible in Italy since the start of last season and he is almost guaranteed to leave his club in one of the next two transfer windows.
Vlahovic, who has scored 10 goals this season, has been linked with a number of clubs already. However, it looks like it’s Tottenham who are leading the race for his signature.
Corriere dello Sport are one of many outlets who have claimed that Conte has personally asked Spurs to sign Vlahovic. If this can be done, we believe that the big Serbian, labelled as a ‘phenomenon‘ by Antonio Di Natale, will be a huge success under the new Tottenham boss.
Vlahovic could become Conte’s new Lukaku at Tottenham
One of the biggest reasons why Conte won the Serie A title last season was Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian was arguably the best striker in Italy during his time there and his numbers back that.
In the 2020/21 season, Lukaku scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions. His record of 64 goals and 17 assists in 95 appearances under Conte is brilliant as well, but unfortunately for the Italian, he’ll have to do without him at Tottenham.
However, Vlahovic, Conte’s top target, can become his new Lukaku if Fabio Paratici can negotiate a deal to sign him in the January transfer window.
The Serbian, like Lukaku, is a big, strong, left-footed centre-forward. He is just as tall as Lukaku and his ability to drop deep, hold the ball up and link play together is excellent, just like the Chelsea man.
In the box, Vlahovic is just as lethal as Lukaku, if not more. His finishing is very clinical, he is good in the air and can score with both feet. He is a nuisance to defend against and it’s no surprise that he has scored over 30 goals since the start of last season.
The amazing thing for Tottenham is that he’s still only 21 years old. He could be available for a reasonable fee in January as he’ll have just 18 months left on his contract, and considering how well Lukaku did under Conte, it would be a no-brainer to bring Vlahovic in.
