“I know what I want. The future is already written. I made my decision a long time ago.”
These were the words of Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier today in a press conference.
Although we are none the wiser in terms of which team he will join, we’ll be sure to speculate before an official announcement is made, and his rather coy response when asked about Manchester United in particular has led many to believe that this move really could be on the cards.
At the Press conference in Stockholm, the Swede confirmed that he has received offers from England, Italy and other clubs including some outside of Europe. One of these clubs, according to Sky Sports, is from China, where Ibrahimovic is considering a £53 million two-year deal from an unnamed Super League Club.
As Manchester United are heavily linked with the striker, many fans weren’t happy with the prospect of another big name heading to China. The Red Devils’ failings in front of goal during the 2015/16 campaign have been well documented, and the serial winner that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic would almost certainly go a significant way to arresting this trend. Well aware of his potential impact on the team, United fans voiced their displeasure about the Swede’s destination still not being tied down to Old Trafford.

The mercurial talent has continued to amaze in Europe’s top divisions, even as his age grew ever closer to that of a player being ‘over the hill’ and nearing retirement. Should Ibrahimovic’s move to Manchester United materialise, it is the belief of many that he could become a Cantona-like figure, capturing the imagination from week to week, and only adding to the fervor with his rather eccentric approach to life.
Of course, goals will grant him hero status faster than anything else, but the way carries himself on the pitch will almost certainly play a part in the fans’ adoration of the former Barcelona hit-man.
Ibrahimovic himself also tweeted a huge hint that an announcement could be imminent, which especially excited fans from Old Trafford.

But, as always, there’s room for the funny side on Twitter.
