Zeki Celik has told Top Mercato that he believes Tottenham were interested in him during the summer and also suggested a move to the Premier League would appeal to him.
The 23-year-old is currently at Lille and it’s thought that Spurs were interested prior to the signing Matt Doherty from Wolves.
Celik signed for Lille in 2018 from Istanbulspor in Turkey and he’s grown as a player in Ligue 1.

He has played 79 games for the French outfit, scoring three goals and registering nine assists.
Lille have got off to a flyer during the 2020/21 campaign, losing just one of their opening 10 games of the season.
Tottenham’s interest might not have been concrete, although the player has seemingly confirmed that he was on their radar.
He told Top Mercato: “I heard there was interest from Tottenham but I don’t know if they made an offer.
“Anyway, I know that Premier League is a league that appeals to me but I am happy to have remained especially in the view of our start to the season.”
Celik cost Lille just £2.25 million in 2018, whilst he also has 18 Turkey caps to his name.
TBR View – Celik one to keep an eye on for Tottenham
With Doherty perhaps viewed as a short-term option and Serge Aurier not entirely convincing, the Lille man could be one to keep on the radar.
He is an uncompromising full-back who is solid defensively and shows a willingness to get forward at every opportunity.

At 23 there is plenty of scope for him to improve and he’s a player that Mourinho would surely welcome into his ranks.
Tottenham have a plethora of attacking talent right now but perhaps they are still somewhat suspect at the back.
With that in mind, Celik moving to Tottenham might not be completely out of the question just yet.
