Yves Bissouma not 'the hottest' name on Arsenal list, says Fabrizio Romano
Arsenal do not see Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma, as their number one priority signing this summer, according to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on The United Stand podcast this week, Romano was offering transfer updates on a number of key issues and players. As usual, Romano is one of the most ‘in the know’ journalists when it comes to the summer window.
Arsenal have been linked with Bissouma for some time now. The Brighton midfielder has impressed, and is said to have asked to leave the club amid interest from the Gunners, Manchester City, and Arsenal.
But rather than go all out for Bissouma, Romano believes the Brighton man isn’t the main focus for Mikel Arteta.
“He’s been linked to Arsenal, yes. But I’m told he is not the hottest name for Arsenal. They are looking for something else,” Romano told United Stand.
Bissouma is thought to be keen on the idea of a move to Arsenal. He is said to be a fan of the club from his younger days.
However, the Gunners have also been linked with Sander Berge of Sheffield United. The Norwegian is available for around £35m, thanks to a release clause in his Blades contract.
Brighton, meanwhile, are thought to want around £40m for Bissouma. (The Sun)

In terms of the profile of midfielder Arsenal need, it’s hard to argue against Bissouma. He has those battling qualities the club needs but he’s also adept with the ball, like all of Graham Potter’s players are.
Romano is usually close enough with his predictions but it would be a surprise to not see this rumble on further. Arsenal and Bissouma could be a match made in heaven, so expect more twists and turns with this one.
