A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to welcome David Ornstein’s report on the fitness of Gunners ace Kieran Tierney.
The 23-year-old, one of Arsenal’s best performers this season, missed the Gunners’ 0-0 Premier League draw with Crystal Palace on Thursday with a muscle injury.
His absence, along with that of Gabriel Martinelli, was felt as Mikel Arteta’s charges lacked creativity and drive against a stubborn Eagles defence at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta confirmed that Tierney would have a scan on Friday to determine the extent of his problem, though the club hasn’t provided any further updates on the Scotland international just yet.
However, The Athletic’s Ornstein has claimed that there doesn’t seem to be a tear to the player’s calf muscle and he could be back for Monday’s clash with Newcastle.
Kieran Tierney injury thought not to be serious – seems no tear to calf muscle + could return for visit of Newcastle on Monday. Concern when 23yo missed last night’s draw v Crystal Palace but was precaution & looking good @TheAthleticUK #AFC #NUFC #ARSNEW https://t.co/kVdmoFzxYP

Needless to say, the prospect of having such a crucial player back fairly soon has been celebrated by Gunners fans, with some leaving comments on social media:
Saying that i’m relieved doesn’t really do it justice
