Report: Youri Tielemans wanted by Barcelona, amid Liverpool and Manchester United links
Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans, is open to the idea of a move to both Liverpool and Manchester United, although Barcelona are in the mix too.
Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona have now entered the race to try and sign Tielemans, who has a contract with the Foxes until 2023.
Reports over the summer had suggested that Liverpool were keen on signing Tielemans from Leicester. However, talk of a £70m asking-price from the Foxes, in addition to interest from the likes of Juventus, seemed to put an end to any talk of a deal.
However, Liverpool do remain in the hunt for a new midfielder. And Mundo Deportivo suggest that Tielemans is keen on the idea of a move to one of United, Liverpool, or Barcelona.
Any move, though, is likely to come next summer. At that point, the Belgian maestro will be into the final 12 months of his contract. And if no new deal is signed in Leicester, then that £70m asking-price might well drop a tad.
TBR’s View: Tielemans is the one for Liverpool
Barcelona might declare interest in players, but how they plan on financing anything at all remains a mystery. It’s almost like they keep chucking their name in the hat for players to keep relevant.
For Liverpool, and their hunt for a Gini Wijnaldum replacement, signing Tielemans makes so much sense. He has everything Wijnaldum had, and a bit more. He’s obviously keeping his options open, too, given his lack of new deal in the Midlands.
The Reds might have to bide their time here. But if they can land Tielemans next summer, then it will send quite the message around the league.
