Leicester City confirmed (official website) on Deadline Day the loan signing of Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans on loan for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old has made the temporary switch to the King Power Stadium, with Adrien Silva going in the other direction also on loan.
Claude Puel’s side have managed to acquire an extremely highly-rated talent, who emerged as a wonderkid in European a few years ago.
Tielemans is a central midfielder that is useful going forward, with five goals in 30 games for Monaco this season from the centre of the park.
The Belgium international also netted 18 times and supplied 15 assists for Anderlecht in the 2016/17 campaign before his switch to Monaco.
Tielemans has the qualities to play as an attack-minded midfielder and that should immediately shift some extra pressure on to James Maddison.
Maddison, who cost £20million (BBC) in the summer, is usually deployed as the advanced midfielder.
The 22-year-old has five goals and four assists this season for the Foxes in the league, but his form has been inconsistent in the past month.
Tielemans’ arrival on loan should give Maddison extra competition for his spot and it should get the best out of the English playmaker.
There could be a possibility for Puel to play both together in the same XI, which would be an offensive team that could cause damage in the Premier League.
