Youri Tielemans’ destruction of Arsenal might have Tottenham Hotspur fans scratching their heads

Arsenal’s abysmal form in the Premier League continued yesterday as Leicester City tore them apart at the King Power Stadium.

The Gunners simply could not keep up with the Foxes, who were excellent throughout. A number of Leicester players should have special praise reserved for them, including James Maddison, Ben Chilwell, and Jamie Vardy.

But Youri Tielemans again looked magnificent in the centre of the park.

Tottenham Hotspur fans must be wondering why on earth Mauricio Pochettino reportedly vetoed a deal for the player in January, considering the way he just dominated their North London rivals.

As reported by The Telegraph, Daniel Levy had agreed a potential deal and was awaiting a green-light from manager Mauricio Pochettino to sign the Belgian as a potential Mousa Dembele replacement.

However, as reported by Het Belang van Limburg, Pochettino was not convinced by the player and the loan with an option to buy deal was shelved. He ended up at Leicester, with The Telegraph suggesting they could make the deal permanent for £40 million in the summer.

Tottenham fans rarely second guess Pochettino and rightly so. The Argentine has been tremendous for the club and, if he felt Tielemans would not be a good fit he was probably right.

But after watching this display, there’s no doubt Spurs could use him as their squad is stretched thin in the home straight of the 2018-19 campaign.
