'You're joking': Some Liverpool fans discuss report involving West Ham; it 'doesn't make sense'
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after 90min revealed that the Reds are interested in signing Declan Rice from West Ham next summer.
What’s the story?
Well, 90min believe Rice is fully expecting the current campaign to be his last at the London Stadium.
Liverpool, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs are monitoring the situation, as West Ham consider handing the 22-year-old a new contract.
However, 90min are claiming that Rice would insist on a release clause if he were to sign a new deal, which goes against West Ham’s club policy.
The England international’s current deal ends in 2024, although by the sounds of it, he’s going to push for a move away in the summer of 2022.
Rice is West Ham’s captain, and has played every minute of the Premier League campaign so far.
West Ham’s No.41 also started all seven games at EURO 2020, and scored in Thursday’s 4-0 win over Hungary.
Liverpool would have to pay a fortune for West Ham to sell Declan Rice
In our view, Liverpool would have to break their club-record transfer fee to lure Rice away from the London Stadium.
At just 22 years of age, he’s already among the best midfielders in Europe.
Considering 25-year-old Jack Grealish joined Manchester City for £100m, West Ham could arguably demand that sum or even more, seeing as Rice is three years younger.
Rice might not be worth £100m, but to West Ham, he most certainly is.
In such a short space of time, he has become a leader for club and country, and has the potential to become Europe’s best defensive midfielder.
Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about 90min‘s revelation…
