Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones is excited by the prospect of making his Anfield senior debut for the club, as per their official website.

Jones says he has been attending Reds games as a fan for years and that playing against Arsenal on the hallowed turf would be a dream come true.

He said: “It’d be a dream come true. Loving the club, my only dream is to go out there and play at Anfield and represent this club. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do that on Wednesday. Now I’m thinking it could almost be coming true, it’s an amazing feeling.

“When I was younger my mum used to always take me to any game that I could go to. I always used to try and go because that’s how I am. My family are all big Reds and they go to every home that they can go to. It kind of just ran through into me and I’m fortunate to now be in the position where they can come and watch me.”

TBR’s View – Liverpool’s future looks bright, but how can the youngsters get into this elite squad?

Jones was among the youngsters who impressed in the previous round against MK Dons, but the challenge for him and the others is to break into this elite squad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold provides a blueprint to follow and underlines the fact that Jurgen Klopp will hand out opportunities, but every youngster knows he is up against elite talent just for a spot in the squad.

That raises standards but also means that many of the promising kids coming through may struggle to establish themselves at Anfield.
