On transfer deadline day, Arsenal officially confirmed the signing of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. According to the BBC, the reigning Scottish champions received £25 million from the Gunners in exchange for the 22-year-old.
The move brings an end to the defender’s time with the Hoops. Tierney first arrived at Celtic Park as a seven year old in 2005. A boyhood fan of the Hoops, the Isle of Man-born youngster progressed through the youth ranks impressively. He eventually made his first team debut in the Scottish Premiership in 2015.
By the 2015/16 season, he was a regular at left-back. Since then, he has continued to go from strength to strength. He made his senior Scotland debut in 2016, and now has 12 international caps to his name. He has also won plenty of silverware with the Bhoys. Tierney’s trophy cabinet includes four league titles, and two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups. He leaves Celtic having made 170 first team appearances for the club in all competitions.
Now, the youngster is ready for the next challenge in his career. He now has the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League with Arsenal.
Plenty of Celtic fans will be sad to see Tierney go. Many took to Twitter following his departure to give their reactions to the news.

Incoming embarrassing comments from our ‘fans’ regarding this. I personally wish him well and thank him for what he’s given us over the years, but no man is bigger than the club I support, so as always, I’ll be there to back the Bhoys forever more 🍀
