‘You never know’: Sol Campbell suggests Arsenal as destination for ‘top class’ £187k-a-week star

Sol Campbell has suggested that Arsenal could be a possible destination as the next club for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey, 30, still has two years remaining on his contract with Italian giants Juventus. However, Tutto Juve reported last month that the Serie A club would sell him for €12million (£10.3million), amid Liverpool interest.

He’s a box-to-box central midfielder that shined at Euro 2020 on Wednesday.

The £187,000-a-week star scored the opener during a 2-0 Wales win against Turkey. Therefore, the Welsh look like they’ll be playing in this summer’s knockout rounds of the tournament.

Ex-Arsenal defender Campbell raved about Ramsey’s midweek display for his country. Additionally, he suggested that he could make a remarkable return to the Emirates Stadium.

Ramsey played 371 games during an 11-year spell with Arsenal before leaving them for Juventus in 2019.

“He’s working hard, he’s making great runs. He’s a top, top class player. Maybe he’s in the shop window!” Campbell told talkSPORT.

“He might take a little return to north London and see what’s happening at Arsenal – you never know.”

Should Arsenal target Ramsey?

It would be a romantic return if Ramsey was back in north London in the red of Arsenal. However, there are some obvious obstacles.

Firstly, the player’s gigantic wage is something that surely the Gunners couldn’t justify matching. Secondly, there are still two years remaining on his deal with Juventus. Finally, some things are best left in the past.

It’s hard to argue though that he wouldn’t improve Mikel Arteta’s squad instantly, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens with him after the Euros.
