'You must be joking': Some Arsenal fans 'concerned' over rumour about Tottenham

Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter in a bit of a panic, after hearing that Tottenham are closing in on Barcelona wonderkid Ilaix Moriba.

What’s the story?

Well, the 18-year-old – who 90min claimed was also a target for Arsenal – now looks to be heading for N17.

It was Tutto Mercato Web who revealed that Tottenham are in pole position to sign the teenager, who has been compared to Paul Pogba and Yaya Toure.

Moriba is currently in the wilderness at Barcelona.

As SPORT documented, the midfielder is training with the reserves after rejecting the club’s offer of a new contract.

Tottenham look to be the beneficiaries of the situation, which seems to have worried a section of Arsenal fans on Twitter.

Fabio Paratici may only have been at Tottenham for a short while, but he’s doing some incredible business.

The signings of Bryan Gil and Cristian Romero were excellent captures for the first-team, and the Italian is also future-proofing Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Moriba is capable of playing immediately, but also has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Additionally, Fabrizio Romano said Tottenham are also close to signing Pape Sarr from Metz, another 18-year-old midfielder with the world at his feet.

In fairness, Arsenal also have a side capable of dominating in years to come, with youngsters such as Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.

However, it’ll be hard not to feel jealous about Tottenham’s activity in the market.
