‘You might get relegated’: Chris Sutton says West Ham could go down if 31-year-old manager replaces Moyes

West Ham supporters are proving to be difficult to please in recent months.

There have been a number of calls for David Moyes’ head over the past 12 months despite the fantastic job he has done at the London Stadium, and after the 4-1 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday, there has, once again, been some chat about replacing Moyes.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live 606, Chris Sutton fielded a call from one fan who wanted to see Moyes replaced by Will Still from Reims, and he warned the supporter that the Hammers could well get relegated if they make that kind of call.

West Ham could get relegated under Will Still

Sutton shared his verdict on the 31-year-old.

“Would you get rid of David Moyes seriously and who would you bring in?” The caller was asked.

“The guy called Will Still, he would love to manage West Ham, it’s a different style,” The caller said.

“You might get relegated. You might get relegated. I’m not saying that Will Still is a fantasist, but when you change manager, be careful what you wish for, that’s all I’ll say to you as a West Ham fan,” Sutton said.

Risky

It goes without saying that this appointment would be a massive risk.

Will Still has had just one season managing in France, and while he did well there, he’s only 31 years old and not experienced at this level.

We’ve seen already this season that sacking your manager for a more ‘trendy’ option can backfire – just ask Bournemouth, and the idea that Moyes should go to get someone in who’s a bit more fashionable really rubs us the wrong way.

Moyes has done a fantastic job at West Ham, and he deserves a bit more credit than he’s getting.
