Arsenal star Bukayo Saka and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker are up there with the fastest players in the Premier League.
Luckily for Gareth Southgate, both players play for England. The duo joined the rest of the Three Lions squad earlier this week and it looks like Saka and Walker decided to have a quick race to see who’s faster.
The ex-Tottenham man, who joined Manchester City for an eye-watering £53 million in 2017 (Guardian), will be many fans’ favourite to win that battle.
However, if Saka’s comments are anything to go by, it was the Arsenal man who won the race.
Bukayo Saka says he beat Kyle Walker in a race
The England squad are busy training ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Albania at Wembley this Friday. The mood around the squad is really good at the moment and the players seem to be enjoying themselves.
Walker took to Instagram last night to post a picture of himself running alongside Saka. The Arsenal man appears to be ahead of him, to which his compatriot claimed that he gave the youngster a ‘head start’.
Saka quickly hit back with a comment under the post. “You lost bro,” he wrote, and Arsenal fans on social media, predictably, believe him.
Who’s faster?
Both players are rapid in their own right and they are always a nuisance to deal with for the opposition. While there’s isn’t any recent data from their respective clubs available, a quick look at video games may give us a hint.
Walker’s FIFA 22 Ultimate Team card shows that he has 92 pace while young Saka has only been given a pace rating of 84 (FutHead). On Football Manager 2022, the Manchester City man has a pace rating of 18, while the Gunners attacker can only boast of 15. (FMInside)
This, however, cannot be used as evidence to say that Walker is quicker than Saka. The Arsenal man may well be faster, as his Instagram comment suggests, but until an official report is out, we’ll just have to keep guessing.
