Dietmar Hamann believes that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a better manager than Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.
The pair went toe to toe once again in yesterday’s blockbuster clash at the Etihad Stadium which finished 2-2.
There is no denying that Klopp and Guardiola are the two best managers in world football and the dynasties they have created at their respected clubs has been remarkable.
But Hamann, who played for both Liverpool and Manchester City during his playing career, feels that Klopp is significantly superior to the Spaniard.

The German cited Guardiola’s inability to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich and the amount of money he has spent compared to Klopp as reasons why he questions the comparison between the pair.
Hamann said: “In Munich, he (Guardiola) took over a Champions League winning team – was there for three years and didn’t get to the final, he was knocked out in the semi-finals three times.
“Two or three years after he left, [Bayern] won it again.
“At City now, up until last season he hasn’t been passed the last eight and you look at the money, the fortunes he’s spent – I don’t think it’s enough.”
In contrast to Hamman’s outspoken criticism of the former Barcelona manager, the 48-year-old spoke in glowing terms about his compatriot.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Hamann added: “If you look at Klopp he took Dortmund to a Champions League final which hasn’t been done since and won the league with Dortmund.
“He won the league for the first time in 30 years for Liverpool – he really galvanised that football club and if you always manage the best teams, you can’t help but win the league.
“Everybody is going on about Guardiola being the godfather of managers, if you actually look at his record over the last three years – yes he’s done great with City to get 100 points in a season, but Klopp hasn’t spent probably a quarter of the money and they are close.
“I don’t think you can compare them. I think what Klopp did at Liverpool rates far higher than what Guardiola has done at City. At City they won the league before Pep came.”
