Nuno has told Sky Sports that it is evident in training that Tottenham Hotspur’s Tanguy Ndombele is not ‘right’ to join the match day squad.
No show
Ndombele has not appeared at all over pre-season and was left out of Tottenham’s game against Arsenal at the weekend.
The Frenchman now faces real question marks over where he will fit in under Nuno.
While Spurs did give Ndombele some time off for paternity leave, his pre-season has hardly been ideal for a player who is yet to fully convince since signing for Tottenham.
And Nuno suggests that Ndombele’s training performances will need to improve before he is given a chance to play.
“You can see he is not in the right moment to join the group in terms of competition,” Nuno said.
“He is not injured. It’s not about that [not doing enough to impress]. It’s about deciding who you want to take.”
Fitness issues… again
Ndombele is arguably Tottenham’s most naturally gifted player in possession, but his fitness has been continuously questioned since the day he signed.

The 24-year-old is still talented enough to turn his time at Spurs around, although doubts are now starting to arise over his future again.
The Athletic suggest that Ndombele is considering his future at Tottenham after being left out again at the weekend.
And it has now got to the stage where it would be a surprise if Ndombele is even included in Spurs’ squad to face Manchester City at the weekend in their Premier League opener.
