'You are a machine': Yann M'Vila lauds Arsenal loanee on Instagram
Yann M’Vila was amongst the raft of names to laud William Saliba on Instagram after the Arsenal loanee’s display as Marseille drew with Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Saliba’s stock continues to rise while he is away from the Emirates. The 20-year-old was tasked with trying to keep world football’s most devastating front four quiet.
Mauricio Pochettino selected Angel Di Maria, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at Stade Velodrome.
And yet, none of the quartet could find the back of the net as the game ended goalless.
The highlight of the fixture for Saliba came when he produced a stunning last-ditch tackle to deny Mbappe when the forward was almost through on goal.
Had he not got the challenge right, he would have definitely been sent off. But, despite Mbappe getting slightly ahead of the defender, Saliba somehow managed to get his foot on the ball and deny the PSG star.
Unsurprisingly, Saliba wanted to take to social media to comment on the result. He actually suggested that they were disappointed not to win the game…
And in response, M’Vila – who seemed to be linked with Arsenal in almost every window when he was younger – applauded the Gunners centre-back.
His message translates as: ‘You are a machine my brother bravo for your match’.
Arteta cannot overlook Saliba when he returns to Arsenal
There is a question mark hanging over what the future holds for Saliba. To many Arsenal fans, it is a huge surprise that he has not yet made his Gunners debut.
So it is not yet clear what Mikel Arteta’s plans for Saliba are. But in light of performances like Sunday, surely the Arsenal boss is asking for trouble if he does not put him in his plans next season.
Yes, he is not necessarily producing colossal performances every single week. But he is 20. And he has just shone against four of the world’s best attacking players.
Arsenal cannot let him slip through their grasp.
