Leeds United are reportedly closing in on the free transfer of Yoann Barbet from Brentford. L’Equipe reports that the West Yorkshire side is pushing to sign the player, after his release from Griffin Park was confirmed earlier this month.
It would certainly be an eye-catching recruit for Leeds, who clearly need to bring in some reinforcements at the heart of defence.
Barbet has shown he is capable of playing regular football in the Championship and his versatility, being able to play at left-back, also makes him a perfect Leeds recruit.
However, he may not be welcomed by one current Leeds United player.
When Brentford took on Leeds back in November 2017, a game the Bees won 3-1, Barbet got into a little bit of handbags with Samuel Saiz.

The Leeds playmaker went to square up to the Frenchman, which went well. The apparent Leeds target quickly pointed out the height difference between the pair in a less than friendly manner. It was something of a hit on social media.
Of course, Saiz is currently out on loan at Getafe and is expected to complete a permanent exit in the summer. So Barbet and Saiz would not have to engage in an awkward faux-friendly welcome if Leeds do sign the Frenchman this summer.
