'Yessss', 'we are back': Some Spurs fans absolutely buzzing over 'huge' news

Spurs fans have been celebrating the news that Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso have been released by Argentina.

The Tottenham duo will now be making their way back to N17, via a 10-day stay in Croatia, where they’ll be allowed to train.

As reported by the likes of The Guardian, Spurs did not give Romero and Lo Celso permission to join up with Argentina.

Indeed, Tottenham are reportedly expected to hand fines out to both players upon their return to N17.

Mali XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them

All of mainland South America is on the UK government’s red list, which means 10 days of quarantine upon entering the country.

Romero and Lo Celso are expected to train in Croatia to avoid having to isolate in a UK quarantine hotel when they return.

Being released at this stage of the international break, instead of taking part in Argentina’s game against Bolivia, means they should be ready to face Chelsea on September 19.

This news follows on from baffling scenes in last week’s World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Brazil in Sao Paulo.

The match was called off after just a few minutes when local health officials entered the pitch.

They accused the two Spurs players, plus Aston Villa pair Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia, of violating covid protocols in order to enter the country.

The Spurs duo will miss this weekend’s game against Crystal Palace and next week’s Europa Conference League meeting with Rennes.

But while Tottenham are reportedly angry with Romero and Lo Celso, many fans are happy that they’re on their way back and likely available against Chelsea.
