A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been commenting on Twitter about the transfer rumour linking Spurs to Patrik Schick.

La Roma 24 claims Tottenham are already working on a potential deal for the Roma striker after RB Leipzig tried, and failed, to negotiate a 50 percent discount for the player’s permanent services.

Schick has spent the season on loan at the Bundesliga club, scoring seven goals and claiming three assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.

The financial uncertainty caused by the global health crisis reportedly prompted Leipzig to ask Roma for a much-reduced fee, but this was refused.

This development has seemingly alerted Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, who have stepped in and are already working on a £25million deal for the 24-year-old through intermediaries.

Schick is a high-calibre striker, tall and strong yet quick, elegant and agile, and can also play as a second striker or as a right winger – the kind of versatility which would suit Spurs down to the ground.

“He has incredible quality and brings something different to the team which makes our squad more versatile,” RB Leipzig sporting director Marcus Krosche said last year.

Given Tottenham’s crisis up front earlier this year, when injuries to Harry Kane and Son Heung-min left Mourinho without a senior striker, Spurs will surely not want to go through the same problem again.
