‘Yesss’, ‘amazing to have you back’: Some Arsenal fans react to £50k-a-week player’s return to training

Arsenal have shared video footage of Calum Chambers in training at Colney, prompting a number of Gunners fans to welcome his return to the fold.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since last December, when he suffered a serious knee injury during the first half of the 2-1 Premier League loss to Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Chambers, who was one of Arsenal’s star men before Arteta’s arrival, was originally expected to be back at the end of the calendar year.

However, the Gunners put out a statement on 30 September confirming that the England international was progressing well and integrating into first-team training sessions.

“Aiming to be back in full training with the squad after the October international break,” added the statement.

On Thursday, Arsenal posted a training-ground video and tagged Chambers, praising him for “looking sharp”:

Chambers also posted a training video with the caption: “Think it’s fair to say I’ve missed this…. Today was a good day.”

And Arsenal fans were pleased to see him back, with some leaving kind comments:

Chambers has been at Arsenal since 2014, when he joined from Southampton in a deal reportedly rising to £16million.

The £50,000-a-week defender has made 101 appearances for the Gunners, registering four goals and seven assists, and has also won three England caps.
