Yerry Mina can help Everton fans forget all about Kurt Zouma

Everton failed in their efforts to bring Kurt Zouma back to Goodison Park this summer, but Yerry Mina showed against Crystal Palace he has the potential to surpass the Frenchman’s level this season.

Mina was handed a start alongside Michael Keane at centre-half by Marco Silva, and rarely put a foot wrong at Selhurst Park.

The Colombia international was praised for totally shutting down the Palace attack, and also caught the eye with his distribution.

It was a disappointing 0-0 result for Everton, but Silva will be very happy with how solid his two centre-backs were – and they’ll surely both be in from the start against Watford next weekend.

Mina endured a frustrating 2018/19, with injuries limiting him to just 15 appearances for the Toffees.

After opening with an excellent performance, the 24-year-old will be keen for a big campaign this time around.

Mina’s colossal performance should excite Everton fans, who need someone else to put their faith in with Zouma having stayed at Chelsea.

£120,000-a-week ace Mina (Spotrac) definitely has the potential to be that man – it will simply be a case of whether he can stay fit.

He is tailor-made to flourish in the Premier League and Mina will strive for the same level of appreciation from the crowd that Zouma received.
