‘Yeah!’: Rio Ferdinand says where he thinks Harry Kane ranks on list of all-time Premier League forwards

Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane among a number of other England internationals.

The former international defender was speaking to FIVE, and giving his verdict on Gareth Southgate’s squad.

England are on a poor run of form heading into November’s World Cup in Qatar.

Southgate’s side suffered relegation from their Nations League group on Friday after a 1-0 defeat to Italy.

The Three Lions haven’t scored from open play since March, and look a very different threat to last summer’s European Championship.

One player who has consistently put in great performances for his country is captain Harry Kane.

The 29-year-old will be hoping to break England’s all-time goal scoring record in Qatar, needing just four goals to top Wayne Rooney’s total.

Ferdinand was full of praise for Kane when asked about the Tottenham forward.

He believes Kane and Jordan Pickford are the only ‘definite’ players in Southgate’s England side.

When asking directly about Kane, Ferdinand said: “He plays in any era, and scores in any era.”

He then responded to a question asking if Kane was in the top five strikers in Premier League history.

Ferdinand gave a confident answer, simply saying: “Yeah!”.

The former United defender refused to say where exactly he ranks him among the Premier League’s best.

However, it’s glowing praise indeed from Ferdinand, who called him a ‘top, top, top, top player’.

Kane has been quickly moving his way up the all-time Premier League scoring charts.

He finds himself in third place right now, and could overtake Rooney this season if he scores 20 more goals.

He’s still some way off Alan Shearer’s total of 260 goals, but if he stays in the Premier League for a few more seasons, he has a fantastic chance of reaching that total.

There have been murmurings of Kane potentially leaving the Premier League.

However, the 29-year-old is likely to have that personal accolade and wining trophies at Spurs on his mind right now.

Tottenham have made a fantastic start to the season, and an in-form forward will only propel them further up the table.

Ferdinand being full of praise for Kane given his record for Spurs and England is no surprise.
