A number of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have questioned Alan Shearer’s choice of players in his latest Premier League Team of the Week, with not a single Molineux ace making the XI.
Wolves headed to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to lock horns with Jose Mourinho’s side and returned to Molineux with all three points in an impressive 3-2 win.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges twice came from behind as Steven Bergwijn opened the scoring on 13 minutes, only for Matt Doherty to level just before the half-hour mark.
Serge Aurier then put Spurs back in front on the stroke of half time, but Diogo Jota made it 2-2 just before the hour and Raul Jimenez then claimed the winner midway through the second half.
Despite Wolves’ impressive performance and result, Shearer’s TOTW XI was made up of five Watford players, two apiece from Crystal Palace and West Ham, and one each for Bournemouth and Chelsea.
This irked some Old Gold faithful, who took to Twitter to question the Premier League and England legend’s selection:
Wolves, who currently sit sixth in the table, just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, are next in Premier League action on Saturday when they host Brighton at Molineux.
