‘Yassss’, ‘delighted with this’: Some Rangers fans react to ‘outstanding’ news out of Auchenhowie

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to celebrate Kai Kennedy’s contract extension at Ibrox.

The 18-year-old attacker, one of the most highly rated players to come through the Rangers academy in recent years, broke into the Ibrox first-team setup last season.

He was named Player of the Tournament at the Alkass tournament in 2019, helped Gers to a Scottish Youth Cup win that season and also played a key role in the Gers B Team reaching the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup last term.

Kennedy, whose Gers contract was due to expire in the summer, joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle in October on a loan stint until January, where he made 10 appearances in all competitions.

After his stint in Inverness came to an end, he returned to Rangers, who have confirmed that Kennedy has extended his contract at Ibrox until 2023.

Kennedy will also join Championship high-flyers Raith Rovers on loan until the end of the season and hope to help them achieve promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
