Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Ibrox gem Josh McPake for signing a new contract at the club.

The Rangers website made the announcement on Thursday, confirming the 19-year-old winger has signed a new four-year contract at Ibrox.

McPake will also go on loan to English League One side Morecambe, with a recall option in January.

Silverware and survival

McPake has come through the ranks at Auchenhowie and was Rangers’ 2018-19 Academy Player of the Year.

He has made one senior appearance for the Gers, against Gibraltar’s St Joseph in a Europa League qualifier in 2019.

McPake has also taken in loan stints at Dundee, Greenock Morton and Harrogate Town.

He helped fire the latter club to FA Trophy success, defeating Concord Rangers 1-0 in the final.

McPake netted four times in 23 appearances as Harrogate achieved a 17th-placed finish in League Two, their first ever season in the EFL.

Rangers have secured long-term future of “unbelievable” talent

In April, Harrogate boss Simon Weaver praised the Rangers gem.

He described McPake as “unbelievable” and tipped him for a bright future.

“His talent is unbelievable at times“, Weaver told Harrogate Town TV.

“If he combines that with full-on energy and tenacity, then the sky is the limit for him.”
