Yannick Bolasie raves about Granit Xhaka after Arsenal victory

Premier League winger Yannick Bolasie took to Twitter after last night’s win for Arsenal to rave about midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The Switzerland captain came on as a substitute and helped the Gunners to a 2-0 win over Newcastle United after extra-time.

Xhaka has been a regular in Mikel Arteta’s team this season but was handed a rest for the game against the Magpies.

With Arsenal struggling, however, he stepped off the bench and provided a spark for the Gunners.

He’s had his fair share of critics at the Emirates Stadium but since his sending off against Burnley, he has come to the fore.

The 28-year-old helped Arsenal to three successive Premier League wins recently and remains a key player to Arteta.

Bolasie was impressed and he took to Twitter to rave about his latest performance.

Xhaka earns £100,000-a-week at Arsenal and has been at the club since 2016 when he signed from Borussia Monchengladbach.

He has played 194 times for the club, scoring 13 goals and registering 18 assists.

Last night, the man with 85 caps for his country nearly broke the deadlock when he stung the palms of Martin Dubravka.

He was lively throughout his cameo and Bolasie was right to praise his efforts.

It would appear that he is still very much an important player to the Arsenal team.

Mohamed Elneny has featured more than expected this season but he’s not quite on Xhaka’s level.

The Swiss performer has done some decent things this season and if he can cut out the errors, he could win over a few more critics.

Thomas Partey is edging back to full fitness and it’ll be interesting to see if Xhaka remains a regular once the summer recruit returns.

Right now, however, he is proving to Arteta exactly what he can bring to the team.
