Yannick Bolasie critical of Everton’s performance in League Cup exit

Everton are out of the League Cup following a 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Goodison Park. Late goals from Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial cost the Toffees a place in the semi-final in a game in which Everton never really got going.

Other than a positive spell at the end of the first-half, Everton struggled to get into the game and one forgotten member of the first-team was not impressed with what he saw.

Yannick Bolasie, who has had an injury-ravaged career on Merseyside since his reported (BBC) £25 million move to Goodison Park in 2016.

The DR Congo international has since had spells out on loan with Aston Villa, Sporting Lisbon, and Anderlecht and is widely believed to be on his way out of the club in January – with a loan reunion at Middlesbrough with his former boss Neil Warnock being mooted.

But Bolasie remains an Everton player and one of the team’s biggest cheerleaders on Twitter. However, last night, it is clear the winger did not see much to be impressed with.

Bolasie is clearly entitled to his opinion and, as he says, he will share that same opinion face-to-face with his team-mates if he has to.

It must also be frustrating to watch as his team struggles to find a creative spark, whilst he likely backs himself to be able to help in that regard.

Everton fans will just hope that the players can find a spark when they face Sheffield United on Boxing Day.
