Arsenal eventually saw off Watford today as they continued their march towards Champions League qualification under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners played some outstanding football and excellent goals from Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli ensured Watford’s two goals counted for nothing.

Arteta once again opted to go with the experienced Lacazette up front, with Martinelli, Saka, and Odegaard all buzzing around the Frenchman. And it worked a treat, especially in a couple of goals as Lacazette played a key role in setting up both Saka and Martinelli.

Indeed, Martinelli’s strike which flew into the top corner was arguably the pick of the bunch, and former Everton and Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie was among those to laud the strike. Taking to Twitter, Bolasie showed his delight for Martinelli, and insisted it had been coming a while.

Martinelli has hit a nice patch of form for the Gunners in recent times, although his sending off against Wolves did halt things a tad. But with Emile Smith Rowe ruled out, the young Brazilian once again took his chance.

It’s been brilliant to see the development of Martinelli this season and his goal today was everything we all know he is capable of.

The movement, the anticipation, and then the strike were all on display as Martinelli showed everyone why he is considered one of the best young talents in the country.

Bolasie, who regularly comments on Arsenal’s goings on, was right to be in awe here. Gunners fans, then, will be hoping to see plenty more of this in the coming months.
