Xherdan Shaqiri reacts to Liverpool win on Instagram; Sami Hyypia replies

Sami Hyypia lauded Xherdan Shaqiri for his assist after the Liverpool winger took to Instagram to celebrate the Reds’ win over West Ham.

It has been a good week for the Swiss. His performance in Tuesday’s Champions League win over Midtjylland prompted plenty of Reds fans to suggest that he deserved more game-time.

And it appears that Jurgen Klopp may have listened to their calls. The 29-year-old was brought on to make his first Premier League appearance of the campaign as the Hammers visited Anfield on Saturday.

And he ultimately played a crucial role as Liverpool came from behind to secure the three points. It was his stunning pass that allowed Diogo Jota to break through and score the winner.

It was a remarkable piece of vision from Shaqiri. But it will have come as no surprise to the Anfield faithful to see that kind of pass.

He produced a similarly-superb ball for Trent Alexander-Arnold in midweek. On that occasion, that allowed the right-back to set up Jota. The summer signing took full advantage there as well, and broke the deadlock.

Shaqiri took to social media to comment on the win. And amongst those to reply was Liverpool great Hyypia.

The former captain was clearly blown away by the wide-man’s assist.
