After weeks of shopping around, Tottenham Hotspur have finally found their new attacking midfield solution.

Indeed, Xavi Simons has joined Spurs from RB Leipzig.

Tottenham tried to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, while Eberechi Eze was a concrete target for Spurs at one point too.

However, after missing out on both players, Spurs have pivoted to move for Simons in what could be a very exciting deal.

Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Xavi Simons has been introducing himself to Spurs, and to the Premier League, and he’s made an interesting point about one Liverpool player.

Xavi Simons can’t wait to face Jeremie Frimpong

Simons has just arrived in the Premier League, and upon joining arguably the best league in the world, he’ll be sharing the pitch with some absolute superstars this year.

Indeed, Simons will be playing against the best of the best throughout this season, and according to the Dutchman, there’s one player in particular he can’t wait to face off against.

“Which Premier League player are you most excited to face?” Simons was asked.

“My friend, Jeremie Frimpong,” Simons said.

Simons and Frimpong, of course, know one another very well from the Dutch national team, while they were also opponents in the Bundesliga at both Leverkusen and Leipzig.

Frimpong has just joined Liverpool for £29m, so both players are now in the Premier League.

Jeremie Frimpong’s record vs Xavi Simons

Simons says he can’t wait to play against Frimpong for Tottenham, but his history against Frimpong back in Germany isn’t great.

Indeed, these two have an interesting record against one another, it has to be said.

Not only has Frimpong won more games against Simons in the past, he’s also scored more goals in these games, despite being a right-back.

Simons is clearly looking forward to putting this right, and he’ll get that chance later this season as Tottenham face Liverpool in late December in what could be a crucial game for both teams.
