A player reportedly on the radar of Liverpool and Arsenal was previously described as “very, very promising” by Herve Renard, his former boss at Lille.

According to the Far Post, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds and Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg and Zambia attacker Patson Daka.

The outlet reported that Daka has caught the attention of some of the world’s biggest clubs, with a battle for his signature to come.

Liverpool and Arsenal are thought to be in the mix, as are Manchester United, but the Premier League champions are considered “prime favourites” to sign him.

Daka registered 27 goals and 12 assists from 45 games in all competitions for Salzburg last season, including 24 goals in 31 league appearances.

Whilst the 21-year-old has made a huge name for himself over the past season, particularly after Erling Braut Haaland’s exit, his talent has been evident for years.

Renard, formerly of Lille and Zambia, waxed lyrical about Daka in 2017 during the Under-20 World Cup, as quoted by Besoccer.

“He’s a modern center-forward, who moves quickly, who is capable of creating efforts and making a difference because he is skilful and has a sense of movement,” he said.

“I brought him to Lille at 17, he had to wait a little before playing and I had the bad luck to be dismissed in the meantime.

“Unfortunately for him, but whatever, because he signed for Red Bull Salzburg. You really have to write his name down because he is very, very promising.”

Daka has searing pace, is great on the counter, is often involved in the build-up, has a lethal eye for goal and boasts great tactical intelligence, as shown by his superb tally last season.

He stepped up superbly after Haaland left in January for Borussia Dortmund, and surely it’s only a matter of time before he also makes a move to a bigger club.

With Liverpool having a good relationship with Salzburg and Arsenal potentially on the lookout for a new forward in case Alexandre Lacazette goes, this could be one to watch.
