Wright claims Jesus and Zinchenko are now vitally important to Arsenal
Ian Wright has told The Kelly and Wrighty Show that Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus are going to be the two vitally important players to Arsenal when the season resumes given their knowledge of what it takes to win Premier League titles.
Mikel Arteta’s men are most definitely in pole position to win the title as things stand. The Gunners sit five points clear of Manchester City after 14 games. And they will be top of the table at Christmas.
Of course, some will be wary of calling Arsenal favourites – despite their advantage. City are the ones who know what it takes to get across the line. And they have been involved in incredibly close and tense races.
Jesus and Zinchenko vitally important for Arsenal
The large majority of the Gunners’ squad have not been in this position before. But obviously, there are two members of the side who know what City went through to win those previous titles.
In fact, Wright suggested that that knowledge will make Zinchenko and Jesus so valuable to Arsenal in the coming months.
“You mention Zinchenko and Jesus, and they’re the ones who are going to be vitally important to what’s going on now because they know what it’s like to be in the lead and be five points clear, knowing what you have to do in the next game,” he told The Kelly and Wrighty Show.
Certainly, Zinchenko and Jesus are going to be leaders amongst the Arsenal squad. But it does appear, from the outside, that they have already taken on those kind of roles since their arrivals.
Even though Jesus is not scoring a lot, there is little talk about his place in the side. He brings so much to the team. And you can imagine that he is having a major influence behind the scenes.
Zinchenko was showing leadership before his move to Arsenal due to events happening away from the field. He spoke so well and so passionately on so many occasions. And he has taken to life at the Emirates so well.
They were players City were content to lose in the summer. But perhaps they may ultimately be the ones who really help Arsenal get across the line.
