‘Wow’, ‘this club just disappoints me’: Some Arsenal fans react to report about £54m target

A number of Arsenal fans have reacted to widespread reports claiming Lyon have stopped negotiations with the Gunners over Houssem Aouar.

The 22-year-old is reported to have been one of Mikel Arteta’s top transfer targets this summer, with ESPN claiming Arsenal were frontrunners for the £54m man’s signature.

On Monday night, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told Telefoot that any suitors interested in his players would only have until Friday to make a breakthrough.

RMC Sport – translated by Get French Football News – has reported that the deadline was moved to Saturday lunchtime, to allow the players concerned more time to sort things out.

However, no agreements were made in these additional hours, and so, from the top of the Lyon hierarchy, the decision has been made to halt all negotiations, added the report.

Aouar and Memphis Depay, who was said to be in talks with Barcelona, will now be training with Lyon ahead of tomorrow’s Ligue 1 clash with Marseille, where both are expected to feature.
