'Wow', 'oh dear': Some West Brom fans think the Baggies have made a 'shocking' decision

West Brom fans have given their thoughts on the news confirming Rekeem Harper’s permanent move away.

The Baggies announced the 21-year-old’s switch to Ipswich on Friday afternoon.

According to the East Anglian Daily Times, West Brom and Ipswich struck a deal for Harper two weeks ago.

The Blues have reportedly paid an initial £500,000 for Harper, though the fee could rise to £1million.

The move was apparently rubberstamped after Valerien Ismael became Albion’s new manager.

“All the tools to be a player”

Harper joined West Brom’s ranks at 11 and was already on the fringes of the first team at 16.

He made his Premier League debut aged 17, coming on as a second-half substitute in the win over Bournemouth in August 2017.

Harper has made 41 appearances for the Baggies and also took in loan spells at Blackburn and Birmingham while on Albion’s books.

The talented midfielder earned praise from then Baggies boss Tony Pulis at the start of 2017.

“Rek has done fantastic,” the Express & Star quoted Pulis as saying.

“He’s a young midfield player who is only 16, but he’s got all the tools to be a player.”
