'Wow, it's happening': Some Liverpool fans react to news about £200,000-a-week player
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jürgen Klopp confirmed that Thiago would be sidelined until after the international break.
What’s the story?
Well, Liverpool fans won’t see the £200,000-a-week man until at least September 16th against Watford, the first game back after the international break.
Klopp confirmed that the Spain international is struggling with a calf injury, which he sustained in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace (LFC).
It means Thiago will miss Saturday’s clash with Brentford, and will also be absent for the trip to Porto as well as the visit of Manchester City.
The latter clash in particular is huge, so Klopp will surely be devastated to lose his No.6 for the meeting with Pep Guardiola.
It comes after Harvey Elliott’s heartbreaking injury, as well as a small issue for Naby Keita.
Liverpool shouldn’t worry about Thiago
It may seem like another injury crisis is happening, this time in midfield, although there’s no need for Liverpool fans to panic.
Klopp has plenty of midfielders, and also has options in regards to the formation he chooses.
The German can choose from any of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Curtis Jones and James Milner.
You may argue that only Henderson and Fabinho are elite options from that pack, and you’d be right – there’s no problem with that, however.
Klopp could alternatively select a two-man midfield of Henderson and Fabinho, with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota up top in a 4-2-3-1 shape.
Firmino is back in training, but if tomorrow’s game comes too soon, Klopp could instead reward Takumi Minamino for his two goals against Norwich.
For now, let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Thiago’s injury…

Wow, this is not even 2 months in to the season. No Naby, no Elliot and no Thiago. Still can’t believe we didn’t fix this when we had such a terrible time with injuries last season.— Shivin Mathur (@mathursaab94) September 24, 2021
I calf take this anymore https://t.co/cRexuzU3dh— Kaye8a. (@KayethenLFC) September 24, 2021
🤦♂️ this was always going to be the case, inevitable. I know Keita’s out as well but we’re still pretty stacked in midfield. We should be ok in spite of this🤞 can’t pretend it’s not a massive blow though😬🔴⚽️ #LFC https://t.co/IUmmaUniGd— ConorYNWA1 🇮🇪 (@conorYNWA1) September 24, 2021
