A number of Everton fans have welcomed the latest update on Toffees midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin as he steps up his recovery from an Achilles injury.
Everton signed Gbamin in the summer of 2019, bringing him to Goodison Park from German club Mainz for a reported £25million fee.
Unfortunately, the Ivory Coast international has endured a difficult time with injuries throughout his time at Everton and has made just two first-team appearances to date.

Shortly after his arrival at Goodison Park, Gbamin suffered a thigh injury and had surgery which ruled him out for a number of months.
The midfielder was close to returning to action in 2020 but damaged his Achilles tendon in training and has since been battling overcome the problem.
On Friday, however, Everton were able to provide a positive update on Gbamin, who is now doing individual ball work on the Finch Farm grass.
“Jean-Philippe Gbamin entered the latest phase of his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury while the midfielder’s Everton’s teammates prepared for Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Manchester City,” wrote the Toffees media team.
“Ivorian Gbamin is starting to work on the grass at USM Finch Farm, introducing running and ball work into an individual recovery process which began soon after the 25-year-old sustained his injury back in May.”
In addition, the Everton media team also shared images of the player in training on their Twitter account:
And plenty of Evertonians were delighted with the news and photos:
