‘Wow’, ‘can’t see it happening’: Some Arsenal fans react to reported interest in ‘Fabregas 2.0’

A number of Arsenal fans have been giving their thoughts on Twitter regarding the transfer report linking Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer (The Mirror).

The Gunners have endured a difficult season and, come the summer, an overhaul of the playing squad is believed to be on the cards.

The report in The Mirror claims that Soler is high up on Arsenal’s wishlist, despite having signed a new contract at Valencia just before Christmas (Transfermarkt).

In addition, the 23-year-old’s new deal is thought to contain a €150million (£140million) release clause, but that seemingly hasn’t put the Gunners off making a move for the Spaniard.

The report claims that Arsenal have already laid out the groundwork by registering their interest to Valencia before the January window and will revisit the interest in the summer.

With regards to the huge release clause, the Gunners are believed to have drawn up a list of players they could sell in order to raise funds.

Mentioned in the report are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who will have 12 months left on his contract in the summer, as well as Alexandre Lacazette, who is thought to want Champions League football.

Another player who may be in line for a departure is Matteo Guendouzi, who could potentially raise a big sum given his age, talent and potential, and is also believed to have fallen out with Arteta.

Reaction amongst Arsenal fans on social media regarding the prospect of Soler seems pretty mixed – here are some of the comments:
