Another matchday, another superb performance from Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott, who continues to go from strength to strength and earn more and more plaudits.

Despite his young age – he turned 17 in April – Elliott has already made nine senior appearances for Liverpool since joining last year, two of those in the Premier League.

In October, the attacking gem joined Blackburn on a season-long loan, and to date, he has made 13 Championship appearances, scoring three goals and registering four assists.

In addition, all but one of those appearances have been as a starter, and he has played the full 90 minutes in 10 of those games, highlighting how crucial he has become for Rovers.

Blackburn’s form is very inconsistent at present, and they’ve lost both of their games this week, yet Elliott continues to make headlines for the right reasons.

Tony Mowbray’s charges were beaten 2-1 by Norwich at Ewood Park, Teemu Pukki scoring a brace either side of a wonderful goal from the Anfield gem.

Elliott picked the ball up out wide, accellerated past one defender, then cut inside before nutmegging another opposition player and slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper.

It was the kind of goal the very top players would be proud of, but when you remember that the player in question is 17 years old, then you wonder just how good he’ll become in the coming years.

Here is what some fans have been saying on social media about Elliott’s goalscoring display:
