Arsenal transfer speculation is high at present in wake of a dismal Premier League season.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing Alexander Isak, who is currently on international duty with Sweden at Euro 2020.

The Athletic reported earlier this month that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the Real Sociedad striker.

Cadena Ser then claimed that Arsenal have already opened talks with Isak’s representatives about a possible transfer this summer.

The 6ft 4in forward reportedly has a 70m euro release clause in his contract, which runs until 2024.

However, the Gunners might have a tougher job on their hands if they are to sign the 21-year-old now.

On Monday, Isak put in an absolutely superb display against Spain which got many people talking.

He was a spectator for much of the first half but then provided Sweden’s first chance with a great run in behind.

Isak was then in inspired form after the break, carving out a great chance for Marcus Berg just after the hour.

Arsenal transfer target is hailed by BBC pundits

“Wow! What feet from Isak, he is unbelievable,” Karen Carney said on BBC Radio 5 Live commentary.

“I thought the chance had gone because turned back and there was three Spanish defenders around him.

“He does a little roll back, cuts it across and I don’t think Berg was waiting for it. It should be 1-0 Sweden!”

And Danny Murphy added: “What wonderful play from Isak. He starts the move, he stays calm and great feet.

“Then pulls it across and you can’t ask more of your striker partner. Massive chance for Sweden.

“It was great play. Exactly what I would’ve set the team out to do with two front players. When you break, link up and be a threat.”

Isak was eventually substituted in the 68th minute, and the game finished as a goalless draw.
