Alan Shearer has waxed lyrical about Liverpool’s strength in depth up front, as demonstrated against Arsenal in midweek.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds ran out 2-0 winners over the Gunners in north London to close the gap further at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool – who are on a nine-game winning run in the league – are now on 69 points, just one behind Manchester City.

The Reds had a tough game on their hands against an Arsenal side that was in great form.
Like Liverpool, the Gunners were on a great top-flight winning run of their own – five ahead of kickoff.
And Arsenal didn’t make it easy for the Anfield outfit, especially in the first half.
Indeed, Thiago Alcantara nearly gifted Arsenal the lead with a poor back pass.
This culminated in a good chance for Martin Odegaard, though Alisson Becker was equal to it.
However, Liverpool subsequently found their rhythm after the break and went on to score twice.
Thiago was the architect with a defence-splitting through-ball for Diogo Jota, who slotted past Aaron Ramsdale.
Klopp then replaced Jota and Luis Diaz with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian went on to grab Liverpool’s second with a trademark flicked finish from Andrew Robertson’s delivery.
“Look at the two they’re bringing on”
Shearer, speaking after the game, was blown away by the fact Klopp could bring on Salah and Firmino from the bench.
“(Liverpool were) much quicker in possession,” the Premier League legend said on Optus Sport.
“Very good management deciding still to change it when Jota scored with his last kick.
“Then Firmino comes on and adds that second.
“From then on, it was never in doubt really. That was a much different second half.
“That is what stood out for me tonight about Arsenal more than anything is how they were lacking so much in that final third.

“They defended well at times, particularly in that first half.
“But just when you need that little bit extra, that little bit of quality in and around that 18-yard box, Arsenal didn’t have that tonight and it was the standout.
“From a Liverpool point of view, completely different.
“You’ve got a guy who scores a goal, the manager makes a brave decision still decides to bring him off.
“Look at the two they’re bringing on! Salah and Firmino… wow. Enough said.”
