West Ham fans have been responding on Twitter over the last 24 hours after reports suggested Manchester United wanted to explore a swap involving Jesse Lingard and Declan Rice.
The Athletic claimed that the Red Devils were going to look into the potential of including Lingard in a deal to bring Rice to Old Trafford.
Rice has emerged as one of the top midfield players in the country and United, quite rightly, have been impressed with the England man.
In terms of Lingard, he is thought to have settled in really well at West Ham and David Moyes has already made it clear he’d love to bring him to the club on a permanent basis in the summer.
However, Hammers fans on Twitter didn’t seem to be having any of the potential swap deal. It seems that, in the main, despite Lingard’s quality, that supporters value Declan Rice that little bit more.
Here, then, is a look at what some West Ham fans had to say about the potential swap for Rice and Lingard.
I wouldn’t even entertain a swap deal if it were for Bruno and Lingard….

Unrealistic expectations for Rice. He is good but is not Kevin De Bruyne or Kimmich

IF Man United insist on having Declan Rice as part of a deal for Jesse Lingard, then I would walk away.
As good as Lingard has been for us, we could find an alternative. Whereas in Rice’s case, I personally believe that he is simply irreplaceable.

Comes down to Lingard surely. If he wants to join he can force a move or run down his contract. Not ideal in run up to a World Cup but surely that would focus the mind on a 30m offer.

I’d hate it if he went manu. I’d be great for his career but fuck me their fans….. we’d never hear the end of it man.
