‘Would never ever happen’: Some Liverpool fans claim there is ‘no chance’ of Everton rumour
Everton links are emerging naming Rafael Benitez as a potential managerial target for them – but some Liverpool fans strongly claim in response to the rumour that it will never happen.
The Telegraph reports that the Everton boardroom have discussed Benitez as a possible target and that there has been contact to sound out mutual interest.
It states that Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri is considering the shock move.
Benitez is a high-profile manager that looks a sensible candidate for the Toffees on paper. However, there is the obvious history that he was previously in charge of Liverpool at Anfield.
The 61-year-old Spaniard is still loved by the Liverpool faithful, as he was the manager when the Merseyside giants famously won the Champions League back in 2005.
Ultimately, he left the Reds after a memorable six-year spell back in 2010.
Aside from his time in Liverpool, he’s an extremely experienced boss who’s managed some of Europe’s elite. For example, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter Milan are some of the names on his eye-catching CV.
Liverpool fans would view Benitez to Everton as a betrayal
It’s 11 year since Benitez exited Liverpool, but that won’t make a difference for Reds supporters if he joins the blue half of Merseyside.
His career has quieted down in the last few years. However, there is proof of what he can do with a budget at a big club.
Everton are still scratching their head over who to name as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor.
It’s a massive job for whoever takes the reigns at Goodison Park, so they are not rushing their decision. However, they could do with a new man soon to give him plenty of time to prepare for next season.
Here are some Liverpool fans claiming there is no way Benitez will be next in the Everton hotseat.
