‘Would make the division sit up’: Some Aston Villa fans excited by links to 21-year-old

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard as a potential target this summer – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter love the transfer speculation.

According to Sport Media Set, Villa are one of several Premier League clubs keen on the 21-year-old attacker. Dean Smith’s side are joined by Liverpool, Leeds United and Tottenham in the potential race.

The report explains it would take a fee of around £30million for negotiations to take off. He still has three years remaining on his contract with Italian top-flight club Sampdoria.

Damsgaard was a fairly unknown name to English audiences a few months ago, but his Euro 2020 performances this summer alerted plenty.

The left-winger was a key player for a Denmark side that made it all the way to the semi-finals. His country were beaten by England in the semis, but he scored a memorable free-kick.

Villa fans excited by Damsgaard rumour

A selection of Villa supporters on social media are willing their club to raid Sampdoria for their talented wide player.

It was his debut season last year in Serie A. He hardly set the world alight with two goals and four assists in the league, but he’s very young adapting to a new division.

It’s easy to get caught up on a player after they catch the eye at a major international tournament, so it would be a punt from any Premier League club if they decided to ramp up interest in him.
