‘Would love him’, ‘Pocketed Vardy’: West Ham fans excited by links to 20-year-old international

West Ham are reportedly interested in Slavia Prague defender David Zima – and some Hammers fans on Twitter are thrilled with the transfer speculation.

The Athletic claims that West Ham are looking at another possible raid on Slavia. They previously signed both Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal from the Czech Republic league champions.

Apparently, the Irons are scouting the 20-year-old, who may be open to a move to England or Spain. Additionally, the youngster wants assurances about minutes if he exits this summer.

Zima is currently on international duty with Czech Republic at Euro 2020.

He’s a centre-back who’s reputation is growing after a strong year with Slavia because of consistent displays. This included the club’s impressive Europa League run to the quarter-finals.

There was a standout victory against Leicester City in the knockouts, as Slavia kept Jamie Vardy and Co quiet.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

Not even Premier League frontman Vardy could find a way past the Slavia backline in a 2-0 aggregate defeat to them, so it’s a credit to their solid defence.

West Ham fans trust the Slavia production line

Soucek and Coufal have been natural fits for the Premier League since they first played in England. They are also both parts of the Czech Republic team that will hope to pull off some shocks at Euro 2020.

Slavia are a side that are a great contributor to the national team.

It’s clear they have a talented squad of players that makes them the best club in the country. However, more than that, players they have sold have gone on and performed elsewhere.

West Ham boss David Moyes needs to be looking for a centre-half in this summer’s window.

The Scottish manager is flexible enough to rotate his formation, so sometimes can switch from a back three to a back four.

There is a strong group of players in the Irons squad, but they need reinforcements. If West Ham want to go far in the Europe League themselves next year, they need strength in depth.

Perhaps it’s worth getting Soucek and Coufal to have a word with their international colleague.
