A number of Arsenal fans have been left impressed by Wesley Fofana’s performance in the French Cup final last night and have urged the Gunners to consider an approach.

The Saint-Etienne defender only made his senior debut in April 2019 but has since clocked up 26 appearances for the French side, scoring twice.

This season, Fofana has featured 24 times, including in last night’s showpiece encounter against Paris Saint-Germain, playing the full 90 minutes.

The 19-year-old performed admirably, despite his side being down to ten men for two thirds of the game following Loic Perrin’s 31st-minute red card, as PSG claimed a narrow 1-0 win.

Arsenal have already snapped up William Saliba from Saint-Etienne but loaned him back out for the 2019-20 season, although the two sides weren’t able to come to an agreement for him to feature in the final.

However, they likely won’t miss him as badly as they could have thanks to the emergence of Fofana, described by teammate Yohan Cabaye as “fantastic” and by GFFN as “the heir to William Saliba”.

Fofana has also been linked with the likes of Everton – Carlo Ancelotti was said to be keen in the January transfer window – and AC Milan.

Now, some Arsenal fans reckon they should make it a double swoop from ASSE and bring Fofana to the Emirates Stadium too:
