Leicester City are interested in signing England international defender James Tarkowski from Burnley this summer, according to the Times.
They report that the Foxes are continuing to make plans in case Harry Maguire leaves the King Power Stadium in the current window and that Tarkowski is part of that.
The report says that Lewis Dunk of Brighton is also of interest, and TeamTalk reported last week that he is Leicester’s top target to replace Maguire and would cost £40 million.
So which of Tarkowski or Dunk – both of who have been called up by England manager Gareth Southgate – would be the better option to take Maguire’s place if he does leave?

Tarkowski, who earns £50,000 a week at Turf Moor according to Spotrac, is perhaps the better on the ball between the pair, who are both similar types of players really.
They’re both good organisers, strong in the air and with Tarkowski being 26 and Dunk being 27, they both have time to grow and improve should they make their move higher up the league.
Both Brighton and Burnley play in deep blocks, which means that they are well protected and Brendan Rodgers’ more expansive style of play may challenge them more – and Tarkowski seems the better suited to being a ball-playing, mobile defender. Dunk is more limited, comfortable heading crosses away but struggles with swift strikers.
The pair would both be good options – and are both in a similar mould to Maguire – but it’s Tarkowski who should be the top priority.
